Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8/8/2026

This page describes how Work In My Shoes handles the information you give us when you create an account, build a profile, and arrange swaps. It is maintained by Work In My Shoes and applies to the matching service only.

Information we collect

  • Account: email address, password (stored hashed), and an optional phone number used for verification.
  • Profile: name, trade, skills you teach and want to learn, city or region, and anything else you choose to add.
  • Activity: match requests you send and receive, messages you exchange in the inbox, proposed and confirmed swap dates, and your credit ledger.
  • Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email, and profile photo from that provider.
  • Technical: basic request logs needed to run the service and prevent abuse.

How we use it

  • To match you with people whose trade and goals fit yours.
  • To deliver your messages, scheduling proposals, and confirmations.
  • To verify your identity, prevent fraud, and enforce our community rules.
  • To improve the product and to keep the service running.

What other users see

Your name, trade, skills, location, and verification badges are visible to other signed-in members so they can decide whether to swap with you. Your email, phone, and credit balance are never shown to other members. Your messages are only visible to you and the other participant in a thread.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted vendors to host the database, send authentication emails, and process sign-ins. We will share information when required by law or to protect the safety of our community.

Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile and contact details and retain only the minimum needed for legal and anti-abuse purposes.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile, trade, or skills at any time from your profile page.
  • Block any member to stop seeing their content or messages.
  • Report a member or message from the inbox.
  • Request export or deletion of your data by contacting us through the Safety Center.

Security

Passwords are stored hashed. Database access is restricted by row-level security so each member can only read and change their own records. New passwords are checked against a known-breach list at sign-up.

Children

Work In My Shoes is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we update this policy we will post the new date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you in-app.
